The First Mountain
I started my career in finance because that is what I went to school for, what I was good at, what I was offered a job for, and it offered me the ability to travel. After just over 3 years and 5 roles, I realized this is not what I wanted to do. This was my first professional experience living in my zone of excellence (high competency, low energy).
I left my career in finance to join a start-up. I had three non-negotiables: follow great leadership, find a mission I could get behind, and be a front line-contributor. On the phone with the recruiter, he asked me if I’d be open to sales. Despite it being half my salary, I said yes because it checked all the boxes for me. This decision radically altered the trajectory of my career and life. I helped grow that start-up 10x to over $30M and ascended from individual contributor to executive. It was at this first organization I came across The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership and remember thinking “finally, someone put into words what I’ve always felt to be true”.
I went on to serve in executive roles at multiple companies at similar stages in their company lifecycle implementing principles of conscious leadership. I saw firsthand how wildly impactful these principles can be to the leaders, the teams, and the customers.
The Second Mountain
Through deep self-inquiry and working with coaches, I identified that as of today the most direct expression of my zone of genius is helping individuals uncover their purpose and create alignment in their lives and work.
I left my career as a hyper-growth startup executive to pursue the world of coaching. I still operate as a CEO of a family business which affords me the opportunity to work with my family on conscious leadership principles and provide for my family, community, and even more opportunities to live in my zone of genius.
